Our Puppy Placement Process Our puppies are raised in their own 'nursery' (a spare bedroom) ~ they are raised as part of our family with lots of socialization & interaction. We place puppies with families who will love & spoil their Vizslas like we do ours. It is of utmost importance to us to keep in contact with families who have adopted our puppies. We are always available to answer questions, & encourage our new owners to become involved in their local Vizsla club ~ this is a great way to meet more Vizsla lovers, as well as get involved with social activities, stimulating to both humans & the red dogs! Most importantly, we consider our puppies to be an extended part of our family & thus we will take back a Santorini puppy at any point during his/ her lifetime, should circumstances arise where you are no longer able to care for the dog. Remember, Vizslas are not for everybody ~ they require daily physical activity & mental stimulation. Please do your research on this wonderfully active breed before purchasing a puppy. We will be happy to discuss if this is the right breed for you. We strive to breed Vizslas of excellent conformation (structure), birdiness, trainability, sound temperament & health, with the goal of improving upon what the Sire & Dam offer. Thorough health checks & screens are done prior to any breeding, including certification that our Vizslas are free of hip displaysia by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Thyroid, VonWildedbrands & CERF. We believe in and uphold the VCC's & Vizsla Club of America's Code of Ethics. Careful consideration is given to our breeding program, & we study pedigrees as well as meet as many dogs 'in the flesh' that are in the families in discussion. We will be able to speak in detail about the pedigrees & welcome you to meet the Dam - & Sire if he is local~ as well as any relatives close-by. We are proud of our Vizslas, & strive to continuously breed 'better dogs' through mentoring from other breeders, educating ourselves through various means, & being very active in our local Vizsla club. What is a responsible breeder? A responsible breeder only allows a carefully bred puppy go to a thoroughly screened home. Expect to be interviewed & in turn, we will be happy to be interviewed by you. We expect to meet our future puppy owners in person before the puppies leave our care, and require an adoption application to be completed by any interested homes. This allows us to best match puppy and human personalities & expectations for the best possible placements. All our puppies are sold on contracts, maintaining the puppies' best interest, and are discussed in detail before any puppy leaves the nest. We use AKC's limited registration & spay/ neuter contracts for puppies that will not be shown or bred. |
